I WILL GO BACKWARDS OF OUR PATH (ITALY) BY MATTIA BIONDI

Synopsis: A backwards journey through the seasons and the units of the language. To change the prose of the world, its intact clock. There is always a place more thoroughly, lost images in minimum intervals. Running time: 00:02:50.

About the director: Mattia Biondi is an Italian independent filmmaker who works at the end of the images. His research is based on the use of minimal and essential technical instruments and it is oriented at the development of creative processes concerning the fusion of archival material and autobiographical elements. He is one of the curators of the Laterale Film Festival, the founder of the film distribution company Piccolo Cinema Ovale and the director of artistic laboratory Segmenta Infiniti.

He studied Digital Film & Screen Arts at the University for the Creative Arts before joining forces with a group of creatives at Praxima; where he now travels the world working on films, TV commercials and online content.

Synopsis: Mahsa is an Iranian woman TV presenter. She sings and posts her videos on Instagram anonymously. As a result of this, Mahsa faces a challenge during one of her shows. She now needs to decide between leaving the country and losing her job… Running time: 00:14:55.

About the director: Zahra Ahooei (Tehran, 1990) began her career as a writer, journalist and researcher within social, scientific and cultural realms in national press. After graduating from Hilaj Film School, Ahooei directed her first short film called “Extra Time” (2015). “Prestige” is her third short film.

Synopsis: Lucy’s Labrador has lost 25 pounds. Tabitha’s chihuahua has parvovirus. For these two families, a mobile veterinary clinic is the only affordable option. One in three New York City households owns a pet and about 20 percent of New Yorkers live below the poverty line. As the city gets more expensive, so does veterinary care. Lucy and Tabitha have to make tough choices to save the pets who help them cope with isolation and poverty. The vet van is a low-cost solution, but not a perfect one. Is it worth the trade offs? Two families risk it all to find out. Running time: 00:30:00.

About the director: Sarah Jenks is a graduate of the Columbia Journalism School’s documentary program. This is her directorial debut. She has worked as an associate producer and assistant editor on award-winning short film 'Colette', feature film 'The War and Peace' of Tim O’Brien and a multimedia documentary series featured in the Medal of Honor games. Lizzie Mulvey, who grew up in New Jersey, received her master’s degree from Columbia Journalism School in documentary film. Most recently she reported, produced, and assistant video edited for a PBS Frontline documentary, 'Whose Vote Counts'.

About the director: Abel Mekasha (1999) is an ethiopian Filmmaker who has workes on Television, cameraman, producer assistant. In 2020 he presented Omnipresent, a film screened at the Marche Du Film de Festival de Cannes, and other film events in Europe and United States. His first feature Superno, has turned into the most awarded film in Ethiopian film history. The film has received recognitions in Italy, United States, Russia, among others.

About the director: Jelena is an award-winning animator and filmmaker from Sydney's Eastern beaches. She graduated a Bachelor of Media (Screen and Sound) degree before completing a Master of Animation. Her animations have been festival-screened internationally numerous times and when she's not swimming, she's crafting delightful films that strive to illuminate the often overlooked surrealism of the everyday.

About the director: Born in the UK to immigrant parents, David is half-Iranian and half-British-French-Canadian. He won the ECU Screenwriting Contest with his spec script, “Rain”.

About the director: Maria Brendle is an award-winning director and scriptwriter based in Zurich, Switzerland. She received her bachelor’s degree in film from the Zurich University of the Arts and her master’s degree in cognitive neuroscience (aon) from the Academy of Neurosciense Cologne. Maria graduated the renowned Drehbuchwerkstatt Munich. She works with a focus on women issues.
